Area Conversion

Area is the quantity that expresses the extent of a two-dimensional region, shape, or planar lamina, in the plane. Surface area is its analog on the two-dimensional surface of a three-dimensional object.

Area Units Explained

  • Square Meter (m²): The SI derived unit of area. It is defined as the area of a square whose sides measure exactly one meter.
  • Square Kilometer (km²): Equal to 1,000,000 square meters. Used for large scale geographical areas.

  • Square Foot (sq ft): An imperial unit and US customary unit of area, used mainly in the United States and the United Kingdom.
